About the Book:
Chicago's rich blues heritage and thriving blues scene is often overlooked by locals even though the city remains the center of the blues world. With Today's Chicago Blues, Karen Hanson has crafted a companion to help both novices and blues fans alike explore the blues scene thriving in Chicago today. With club reviews, artist biographies, and album recommendations accompanied by historical context and commentary from a longtime blues fan, Today's Chicago Blues introduces you to a bluer way of life. Aspiring Authors Help Young Authors

Join other members of the LCP community in our annual judging of Pulaski Academy's (2230 W. McLean at Leavitt) entrants in the citywide Young Authors contest. Sign up for any length of time (2–3 hours is best) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, January 29. Call their reading specialist, Shelley Leeland at 773-534-4391, with any questions and to sign up. Anyone who loves books is eligible. You'll be reading fiction, nonfiction, and poetry submissions from grades 1–8 and judging them on everything from content and mechanics to design and originality. Some bilingual (Spanish) volunteers are needed. Beyond the free donuts and snacks and a melty-warm feeling, the best perk are the glimpses into the minds of the next generation.
